Do you have a Question ?

We’ve got lots of answers here, or you can send us a message!

F.A.Qs

I don’t have any gardening experience. Can I still volunteer?

Yes! We supply all the tools and all the directions volunteers need to be successful.

What do I need to bring?

Bring water (lots of water), sun protection for daytime work, and insect repellent for evening events. Some people would rather work in long sleeves and pants, but shorts and a tank top work just as well. Expect to get a bit dirty. We suggest closed toed shoes (sneakers are fine).

What if I am concerned about the weather?

We are too! Garden managers do their best inform the group by email if the weather prohibits work. Still, scattered thunderstorms and spring snows do pose a problem working outdoors. Contact your garden manager by phone if you are concerned about cancellations due to local weather.

What if I come late or only for a short time?

We understand and are glad you can help even for a short time.

How do I find your garden?

Please go to the Gardens page for directions to our gardens. Garden Manager contact information can be found here as well.

How do I volunteer with my corporate or community group?

We welcome corporate and community groups as large as 15 people.

Fill out the Group form on our Volunteer page to schedule your group or to volunteer!

Can I come to a garden on my own?

Most people come on their own to join up with others during garden hours. It is great fun and is the mainstay of our harvesting opportunities. Contact Us to be notified of the garden schedule, or sign up on our Volunteer page.

Out of respect to property owners, no garden volunteers can be on site without a garden manager.

Can my children volunteer with me?

We love kids. Unfortunately our gardens are not really set up for their safety. We request that young adults be over the age of 14. Parental supervision may be required; please check with garden manager when signing in. Parents are required to sign a waiver for their minor children.

Can I pick or purchase vegetables for myself?

Our mission is to donate food to people in need by giving to organizations whose purpose is to distribute food to appropriately selected clientele. Occasionally a few plants are grown for our volunteers to sample while they work. No produce is sold or distributed at our garden sites.

Are there bathroom facilities at the garden?

Some gardens have portable toilets and some don’t. Facilities are operational April through October.

Do you accept Community Service and other Required Volunteer hours?

We welcome volunteers who need to complete community service hours for school, church, court, scouts, or food stamps.

Policies for Court-Mandated Community Service:

  • Charges related to theft, violence, or sexual misconduct are prohibited.
  • All court-mandated volunteers must commit to a minimum of 10 hours of service with Earth’s Table.
  • You must provide documentation of your requirement and your case worker’s or probation officer’s contact information.
